Create a one minute commercial/memoir highlighting your experiences and passion for the 16^th Annual Northstar-at-Tahoe Tour de Nez — a true grassroots celebration of cycling — and win the chance to have it air on national television

Lake Tahoe, Calif. (April 17^th, 2008)—Wanna be famous? See you name up on the big screen? The 16^th Annual Tour de Nez at Northstar-at-Tahoe is sending out a casting call and asking all those passionate Tour de Nez followers to document that fire inside in a one minute commercial style presentation touting WHY the Tour de Nez at Northstar-at-Tahoe is the world’s greatest festival of cycling. Participants will submit their videos online at youtube.com/tourdenez.com. The public will then be invited to a special screening of the videos and the winner be chosen by panel of well qualified professionals including locally based cycling superstar Alex Candelario, national design guru and marketing expert Ronnie Parker of Boost Creative Services and the Tour de Nez Supreme Commander Tim Healion.

The videos will be judged on a variety of different attributes including creativity, emotion and of course true Tour de Nez style madness and mayhem. The winner will receive an all access VIP Pass including motorcycle and chase car rides, as well as the chance for their creative genius to make it’s debut on national television during airing of the 2008 Northstar-at-Tahoe Tour de Nez Documentary on WCSN. The 16^th Annual Tour de Nez at NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ is scheduled to take place June 17-June 22 in Reno, Truckee and Lake Tahoe. The race has expanded in 2008 to include six days of pro, amateur and enthusiast events. Pro cyclists will vie for their share of thousands in prize money, while cycling enthusiasts of all abilities will enjoy rides with cycling legends through scenic Lake Tahoe, a festive atmosphere and a packed schedule of events that includes family activities such as a bike decorating contest, bike parade and kid’s races.

Tour de Nez’s 16-Year History

Started 16 years ago to celebrate the anniversary of Reno’s first coffee house, Deux Gros Nez, the Tour de Nez has grown from a Masters Twilight Criterium to a six-day festival complete with pro, amateur and enthusiast events. Revelers enjoy live music, unique food, mint juleps, bike decorating contests, face painting and the best that the cycling world has to offer. Additionally, top companies from the bike, outdoor and adventure sports industries will be on hand for an expo with booths, displays and demonstrations of the latest and greatest gear.

Meet the Speed Tech Crew This Week in Reno

 

MEET THE SPEED TECHNOLOGIES FACTORY RACE TEAM DURING THE STREET TO SAND GRAND OPENING EVENT

-Pre-Runners, Chase Vehicles & Drivers will be On-Site for Autograph’s and Tours-

 

RENO, NV (March 25th)–Local off-road fans will get a double dose of adrenalin on April 5^th during the grand opening of Street to Sand – a truck and toy accessory store featuring the latest gear to trick out all types of on and off-road rigs.  Reno based off-road giants Speed Technologies will be at the grand opening from 1pm-3pm signing autographs and offering fans a rare and up close look at the course pre-runners and chase trucks. 

“We are excited to show off our cars,” said Team owner and driver John Harrah.  “We’ve been working hard to make Speed Technologies one of the top racing teams and we are proud to be based in Reno.”

This is the first opportunity for local Northern Nevada fans to meet the Speed Technologies drivers and get a first hand peek at the vehicles.  Speed Technologies will be well represented during the opening with some of the industries top drivers, co-drivers and support staff on site to sign autographs and offer personalized tours of cars.

Fans will have the chance to meet Chuck Dempsey — the off-road legend who took first place on a motorcycle in the Baja 500 and has racked up an impressive list of finishes racing everything from Class 1 vehicles and motorcycles to trophy trucks.  Chuck also stared in the off-road cult classic Dust to Glory. Local favorite Mark Levrett and his co-driver JJ Johnson will also be signing autographs and offering their perspective and insight on what it’s like to race for one of the largest teams in the United States.  Mark only started racing in 2006, but has already brought home a slew of top ten finishes and is pegged to be one of the top drivers in the coming years.

Family, friends, crew, desert, adrenalin and speed are just some of the elements that comprise Speed Technologies.  Owned by John Harrah, a Nevada native son, Speed Technologies has slowly been building momentum over the last two years with finishes and wins in some of the most grueling off-road challenges the sport has to offer.  The first finish was in the SCORE Baja 500.  Then it was a 10^th place finish in the SCORE Baja 1000 and 4^th in the Laughlin Desert Challenge.  That’s impressive for a sport where finishing, never mind winning, is a pipe dream for many.
